About Considered
A resource for advocacy, supporting those navigating disability rights, chronic illness, and systemic accountability.
Our Mission
Considered exists to support those who find themselves forced into advocacy because systems have failed them. We provide resources, templates, and pathways for effective self-advocacy.
Our focus is on the intersection of disability rights, healthcare accountability, and systemic failures. We are particularly concerned with:
- Anticipatory duties — ensuring service providers think ahead about disabled people's needs
- Reasonable adjustments — proper implementation of equality duties
- Iatrogenic harms — addressing harms caused by medical systems
- Lack of candour — promoting transparency when things go wrong
- Foreseeable failures — challenging avoidable harms that could have been prevented
" Consideration for others is the basis of a good life, a good society. "
Our Values
Justice
We believe the law exists to protect the vulnerable, and those protections must be meaningfully enforced.
Accountability
Those who make decisions affecting vulnerable people should bear appropriate responsibility for those decisions.
Inclusion
Systems should be designed with disabled people, not retrofitted when failures become apparent.
Dignity
Every person deserves to be treated with respect and to have their needs genuinely considered.
What We Do
Provide Information
We compile resources, guidance, and pathways for those who need to advocate for themselves or others.
Facilitate Action
We provide templates, contact directories, and tools to make advocacy more accessible.
Highlight Systemic Issues
Through our campaigns, we draw attention to patterns of failure that require systemic change.
Connect Expertise
We seek to bring together legal, medical, and lived experience expertise to support advocates.
Support Policy Change
We comment on policy developments and advocate for amendments that strengthen protections.
Why "Considered"?
The name reflects our belief that proper consideration is at the heart of good policy, good services, and good law. Too often, disabled people and those with chronic illness are not properly considered—in system design, policy development, or individual decisions.
We also chose this name because it describes the approach we advocate for: considered, measured, evidence-based advocacy. Not aggressive confrontation, but firm insistence on rights and proper process.
Finally, it is a call to action: we ask decision-makers to consider the impact of their decisions on those they serve.
